Ruavieja Herb Liquor

Ruavieja Licor de Hierbas is one of those Spanish liquors (originally from Galicia) that has become very popular indeed. Traditionally served after a meal/coffees on its own it put a delicious finishing touch to an evening out (or in)

Ruavieja is made from specially selected herbs and is served ice cold for a refreshing combination of fresh flavours. At 30% alcohol it is also quite potent stuff so careful as you go! Particularly popular at Christmas time why not try "Licor de Hierbas" after the Christmas pudding or mince pies.

Licor 43 Recipe

Licor 43 Spanish liquor, named so as it has 43 ingredients. A popular drink in Spain served chilled over ice and also a key ingredient to many Spanish cocktails. Its not often we do desserts on Top Spanish Tapas or on Orce Serrano Hams but after sampling this in an Orce tapas bar we simply had to share... Licor 43 with baked apples.

Ingredients:

4 Apples
150ml Licor 43
100mls Boiling water
4 Tablespoons white sugar
Small knob of butter

How to make:

Remove the core from each apple but do not core all the way through, leave the apple complete on the underside.

Pour a tablespoon of sugar into each apple, then pour in a little Licor 43.

Cap the top of the apple with a smear of butter.

Place the apples in glass baking dish and pour in the boiling water.

Bake in a pre heated oven (200 degrees) for 50 minutes.

Serve with ice cream.

Melody Crema Catalana

Melody Crema Catalana is a Spanish liquor reminiscent of the famous Catalan dessert. The liquor is quite difficult to find in the UK but a real favourite at Christmas time here in Spain. It has hints of vanilla and cinnamon and a consistency comparable to Baileys Irish cream (although the flavour is very very differnet)

Crema Catalana can be splashed into torrefacto coffee , served neat over ice or used as an ingredient in cocktails. A unique flavour sure to impress the guests! In fact we have not met anyone that says "No" to a second glass..

Fancy a try? Crema Catalana

Spanish Brandy

Spanish brandy - a real treat for the senses. There are of course many types of Spanish brandy with some of the best coming from "Jerez". Due to customer demand we have introduced a range of brandy to the website ORCE SERRANO HAMS Having just finished the photography (nice and sunny today!) we thought a brandy post would be good, so here we are.... ten new bottles to the range incuding, Soberano, Carlos 1 & 3, Veterano, Magno, Torres, Lepanto, Cardenal Mendoza.

There are still a couple of specific brands we are trying to track down so will be adding further bottles to the range shortly.

Andalucian winter tip: Love roasted chestnuts? after peeling give them a quick dip in brandy for a lovely earthy flavour....Delicious!
